Your options and career development
HTS GBM Technology
HTS GBM Technology helps provide HSBC with a genuine competitive advantage across the globe. This team is a strategic partner to the business delivering shared services, advanced technology systems, wide-ranging expertise, and innovative solutions that help the Bank grow, especially in e-commerce.
HSBC's strategic aim is to become the leading international bank and technology plays a central part in achieving this goal. It opens up the door to new business opportunities, more efficient processes, increased margins and helps drive reductions in the Bank's cost base. HTS has a global network where teams connect with each other to pool expertise, knowledge and experience, and this allows us to help the business deliver the most sophisticated solutions to our clients worldwide.
We, in HTS, can offer you the opportunity to drive change, influence strategy and see your work make a visible difference to the Bank's operations.
A great working environment
Work here and you will be involved in projects dealing with front-to-back exchanges, portals and all trade lifecycles, covering all asset classes and utilising leading edge technology. We also have teams focusing on the Bank's controls, vital in ensuring we meet regulatory requirements such as Basel III and Sarbanes-Oxley.
Most crucially of all, our focus is not just on what we do but how we do it. In HTS Global Banking and Markets, we feel it is important that you are able to grow as an individual in an environment that values respect and work-life balance. Where achievement is recognised and where leaders are transparent about the direction the company is going in. Where your role in that strategy is clear and your manager supports you to deliver it.
Powering economic growth
The demands placed on our technology are only going to increase. HSBC's international reach is going to remain an enormous asset as the emerging markets economies of Asia and Latin America lead economic growth in the 21st Century. That reach will be underpinned by great technology and great technology people.
"What strikes you most about this business area is the sheer diversity in every sense of the word. The different academic backgrounds, skills, roles, geographical locations, you name it. But one thing binds everyone together, and that's a passion for seeing technology used in an inspiring and commercially exciting way."
David Leeming, HTS GBM Technology Services
To be an excellent Analyst here, you will need a passion for technology and an understanding of IT concepts. You could be someone with a technology degree, but equally, you could come from an entirely unrelated academic background. We have a wide variety of roles to fill, everything from deep technical development to IT support, analysis to project management. As a result, we need a wide variety of people.
This two-year programme consists of four six-month structured rotations. These could include working in front office, post-trade, infrastructure, support or control functions. We want people to discover what area best suits them, and this diverse programme will be vital in achieving that.
In the long-term, the global nature of this team could open doors to working all across the world. On top of our main centres of London, Paris, Hong Kong and New York, we have significant operations in India, China, Brazil and Malaysia, among others.
The HSBC Summer Analyst Programme lasts for 10 weeks and is designed for ambitious penultimate year university students. This is a non-rotational programme taking place predominantly in our main hubs: London, New York, Hong Kong and Dubai. Our extensive range of opportunities covers all areas of Global Banking, Global Markets, Global Research, all areas of Global Infrastructure, HTS GBM Technology, Global Asset Management and Global Private Banking.
Whichever discipline you choose, the programme will act as a comprehensive introduction to that area of the Bank. Your programme will provide you with the platform to be considered for our full-time Global Businesses Analyst Programme (GBAP). You will have the opportunity to show your genuine potential and develop the behaviours, skills and experience essential to enjoy a long-term career with us at HSBC.
The programme will comprise hands-on experience, excellent technical, behavioural and IT skills training and the opportunity to form very important networks with peers and business leaders alike. Just as importantly, each programme will act as an introduction to the culture and values of HSBC.
Taking all of these elements collectively, the HSBC Summer Analyst programme acts as an extended 'assessment centre' for people looking to join HSBC as a Full-Time Analyst once they finish university.
